MMIWG2S VIDEOS

The Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two Spirit (MMIWG2-S) Awareness Campaign includes production and distribution of five videos that raise awareness about this ongoing epidemic. The five videos identify resources for American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) community members and highlight the negative health impacts violence has on the community overall, with specific focus on how violence against AI/AN community members is a serious public health issue.

MMIWG2S: Remember Their Name!

In this roundtable discussion, our speakers share their experiences navigating the ongoing MMIWG2-S crisis. Community leaders engage in storytelling to explain the MMIWG2-S public health epidemic and the impacts of violence and mental health in our community. Join us in solidarity as we raise awareness, share resources, and advocate for our MMIWG2-S relations.

MMIWG2S:  Feather Alert Advocacy,  Activism, and CommUnity

In this roundtable, our speakers discuss the California Statewide Feather Alert Program, authored by Assemblymember James Ramos (Serrano/Cahuilla). The Feather Alert is a resource available to law enforcement agencies investigating the suspicious or unexplainable disappearance of an Indigenous person. The Feather Alert provides immediate information to the public to aid in the swift recovery of missing Indigenous peoples.

MMIWG2S: Aunties Uplifting our Two-Spirit Indigequeer Relatives

This roundtable showcases community aunties advocating for our Two-Spirit Indigequeer relatives in the ongoing MMIWG2-S epidemic. A critical issue in addressing MMIWG2-S is the lack of research and data focused on Indigequeer relatives. Society must face the root causes behind violence towards Indigenous peoples. This video pinpoints how colonization has impacted our Two-Spirit and Indigequeer community members and calls for an end to the violence and oppression towards our relatives! We look forward to centering the representation, voices and experiences of our Two-Spirit and Indigequeer relatives in our upcoming projects.

MMIWG2S: We Will Not Be Silenced Anymore!

In this video, our community aunties sit in a circle to share stories with one another about experiences of prevention, intervention, and reunification throughout the ongoing MMIWG2-S crisis. This Indigenous roundtable discussion is rooted in collective, inherent strengths, and resilience.

MMIWG2S: Prevention, Intervention, and Self-Care

This video is a candid call to action, empowering community members to engage in critical safety conversations. Monique Castro (Diné) utilizes storytelling to teach us how to stay safe, seek support, and set boundaries. Monique reminds us to focus on our wellness and shares ways to care for ourselves while journeying through the ongoing MMIWG2-S crisis.
